Hair absolutely must be 1/2 inch in length. This generally means you’ll need 3-4 weeks of growth since you last shaved. If the hair is shorter than this, you will not have good results, and hair will be left behind. This is because the hair needs to have enough length for the wax to “grab” it. If in doubt, on the day of your appointment take a close look at the hair. You’ll see three different hair lengths. This is because hair grows on three different cycles. The shortest hair needs to be the length of an eyelash prior to waxing in order to have smooth results.
If the hair is longer than an inch, you’ll need to trim it to 1 inch in length. This will make the service more comfortable. Please keep in mind that for hygiene, licensing, and insurance reasons, I do not trim hair. If you do trim, please be sure not to trim too short!
Prior to your wax, you’ll want to take a warm bath or shower, and exfoliate the area we will be waxing with an exfoliating glove, mitt, or brush. This will help remove dead skin and prepare the area for the wax.
A few tips for a more comfortable wax-
Clients swear by taking Advil 30-40 minutes before their service. You’ll also want to avoid caffeine before your visit, and being hydrated can also help a lot!
Please arrive freshly showered. We need to have the skin free of debris or bacteria for safety and sanitary reasons. I also carry personal wipes in the studio, so if you’d like to use the restroom and freshen up before your service, you can-provided you have arrived on time. We want to make sure we have a good amount of time for your service. No one wants a rushed wax!
It’s normal for clients to feel nervous before their first bikini wax! For this reason, when waxing them, I work side to side. This means I start with just the bikini line and check in with the client frequently to see how they’re feeling and if they want to continue. If they’d prefer to stop the service, I can then just clean up the line and keep them at the basic bikini. Some clients choose to work their way gradually through the waxes. 1. Basic bikini 2. Extended bikini 3: Basic bikini and in between 4. French Bikini, and 5. Brazilian. I’ll talk you through everything. You’re in good hands- I’ve been waxing for many years.
